Installer is unusably slow because it fully extracts itself for each installed file.
More details: http://www.scala-lang.org/node/9670

Workaround: repack installer jar without compression

As of all new releases, the installer for windows will be an MSI. I'm going to mark this bug as invalid->wontfix because the new MSI should resolve these issues. It's pretty snappy on my cheapo Windows 7 laptop. Anyone who wishes to demo, please send me an email and I'll backport an MSI of 2.9.0 or 2.9.1 for you.

As stated in comment, we're moving to a new MSI installer for new releases. All IzPack bugs on windows can be ignored.

Is IzPack going to be discontinued just on Windows or everywhere ? Because I don't think this bug is Windows-specific.

IzPack is going completely away from the distro.
