It's ridiculously hard to setup Scala. Existence proof: There are several official and unofficial guides, and even a separate scala-installer project, just to get Scala up and running.
I used Advanced Installer to create a simple MSI that puts the Scala files in a decent place (C:\Program Files (x86)\Scala); sets the SCALA_HOME environment variable; and adds the Scala binaries to the PATH environment variable.
In other words, you run the installer, then you can immediately run 'scala' and 'scalac' in the Command Prompt.

A 32-bit MSI build is now available. I'm opening a new Ticket for a 64-bit MSI. For the next Scala release, I'll generate the 32-bit MSI for public consumption.
