object Outer {
  trait Foo {
    protected[Outer] def bar()
  }
}

class Outer {
  class Bar extends Outer.Foo {
    override protected[Outer] final def bar() {}
  }
}

I receive this error:

overriding method bar in trait Foo of type ()Unit; method bar has weaker access privileges; it should be at least protected[Outer]
