Writing a List to java.io.ObjectOutputStream gives a StackOverflowError when the size of the list is big enough.

Reproduce:

import java.io.{OutputStream, ObjectOutputStream}

object SerializationOverflowTest {
  def main(args: Array[String]) {
    object nullOutputStream extends OutputStream{
      def write(b: Int) {}
    }

    val outputStream = new ObjectOutputStream(nullOutputStream)

    val items = Range(0, 10000).toList
    outputStream.writeObject(items)
  }
}
