installed the msi (scala-2.10.2.msi) on a windows7 64bits machine with no error when installing.

The issue is that I get an error when running scala in the command prompt:

C:>scala
.jar was unexpected at this time.

Can you please provide some more information:

  • Please run scala using the full path (to show that you don't have another batch file in your PATH with the same name)
  • show the output of "SET" (ie, your environment"
  • run java -version
  • put a "echo here" near the top of scala.bat and see if that is printed before that error is issued. if so, try moving it down the file until you find which line is in error.
